Album

The iconic debut full-length album by the original Princes of Norwegian Darkness, Mayhem. Recorded from '92 to '93, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, or Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is the debut studio album by the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. Songwriting began in 1987, but due to the suicide of vocalist Per Dead Ohlin and the murder of guitarist Øystein Euronymous Aarseth, the album's release was delayed until May 1994. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is widely considered one of the most influential black metal albums of all time. It is the band's only studio album to feature Aarseth and Varg Count Grishnackh Vikernes. Текст песни: Welcome to the elder ruins again The wind whispers beside the deep forest Darkness will show us the way The sky has s classic debut album, seven years in the making. In between church arson, suicide, murder, and a constantly changing lineup, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas was finally completed by steady group of musicians between 1992 and 1993. It was released one year later, and has gone on to be acclaimed as one of greatest black metal albums of all. The lineup that was going to record the album consisted of Dead on vocals, Euronymous on guitar, Necrobutcher on bass, and Hellhammer on drums. However, on the April of 1991, Dead killed himself. In his suicide note, he offered one final contribution to the. Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas 1994. De Mysteriis Dom. Sathanas means Lord Satan's Secret Rites, or at least that's what Euronymous wanted to write. In fact, the phrase isn't written in correct Latin. However, the little dot after dom, as seen on the original cover, abbreviates domini, so the title means something like aboutof Lord Satan's mysteries. Mysterii is not only translatable as mystery, but also as secret worshipritualrite. A bootlegged rehearsal of this album called From the Darkest Past was distributed sometime in the early 90s, featuring instrumental tracks recorded on May 16th 1992. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is a studio album by the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. Songwriting began as early as 1990, but due to the suicide of vocalist Dead and murder of guitarist Euronymous, the album's release was delayed until May 1994. The album is widely acclaimed as one of the masterpieces of the black metal genre, and its bleak aesthetics and lyrics have often been cited as an inspiration by other black metal groups. As most of these songs predate the recording of album by a few years, they contain lyrics written by previous member Dead and were performed live with him before. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas was the first full-length studio album by Norwegian black metal band, Mayhem. The title is said to mean Lord Satan's Secret Rites. It's now widely regarded as Mayhem's greatest effort and one of the finest albums in black metal history. Vocals leave, and that brings about a wonderful guitar solo. It's high-pitched and shrieky, and soon brings about a change in drums. This is one of the highlights of the song, or even the entire album. After some double bass accents, the solo ends and Attila returns with some shouting which then goes back to half growling. Another riff change, but this time going back to one featured in the beginning

What date is it 15/04 1968 ? Euronymus born in 22/03
How many copies of this first DSP version exist? Does anyone know? Thanks!
what is the best vinyl edition of this soundwise? can anyone recommend?
was just wondering since its more rare- but i already got the century media one and it rocks! never sounded better
I wouldnt know about that one, It seems like a exact copy (except by the vinyl label and the defect on the cover) of the original pressing. I would trust it, as most of the things pressed in the Norse countries are usually of good quality. I would sugest looking into it a bit more before buying, just for caution.
How about ancient darkness from denmark is that issue any good ?
I know it is a bit late, but the best vinyl edition is the original press from DSP. If you dont want to kill you wallet, the Century Midia version is pretty neat as well, stay away from Back on Black, as they are shit.
It's hard to review this album in this day and age. Easily down as one of the Black metal legends. It's a very dark album partly due to it's dodgey past with band members commiting suicide and murdering each other, and burning churches and Paganistic/satanic imagery and lyrics. The material on this was written really over the period of the late 80's to around 94, so the problem is, in 2013 non of that dark imagery and sentiment means much now, so to me writting a review on it now it's lost some of it's meaning and impact that it had on me when I heard it in 94.So musically is how I have to judge this. Compared to alot of modern bands in the underground metal scene like Wormfood, Arcturus etc, it's a pretty long winded boring album blasting along at pretty much the same pace. But then again, it's not of the same catagory as the above bands. What it is in context, is a dark fast masterpiece in the old school era of black metal. Three dense layers or icey guitaring, drums that were recorded in an empty concert hall to achieve a doubly deep bassy sound, and snarly- deranged vocals and latin chant. The tracks are well structured, and hellhammers drumming is as always technical and incredibly fast. It doesn't mean this is wall to wall speed. They do come out of wirlwind gear, like the infamous track 'Freezing moon' You certainly have to be in a bad mood or at least dark mood to fully appreciate it..if you're not in one, you will be after.I'll give it 4.5/5 for the fact it is well played, great production unlike alot of fast BM bands of the day, and the fact it made such an impact on the underground metal scene.
The darkest album of black metal, cold like ice, dark like night. A guitarrist killed by the bassist and leader of Burzum... latin black mass at the end of the record...
ONE OF THE BEST BLACK METAL ALBUMS EVER RELEASED. ETERNAL HAILS TO ALL THAT WORKED FOR THIS.
