I made all the music really late at night after my day-to-day work, as an escape from what I normally do. Post-Norah Jones, an album of acoustic, coffee shop folk-pop from a smoky-voiced chanteuse is nothing to write home about. Thus, on KT Tunstall's collection of B-sides, alternate versions, new material and covers including a hazy, husky version of Beck's Golden Age that's lovely, the titular Extravaganza seems a bit hyperbolic, albeit probably intentionally. Still, the starker tracks represent a divergence from the slicker sound of her debut, and Tunstall carries them well, her simple vocals lending the album a sleepy, amiable grace. Rachel Devitt
