Burnt Weeny Sandwich is an excellent album from The Mothers of Invention, and even though itīs not a complete masterpiece in my ears, itīs definitely a must for fans of Frank Zappa. The set lists focus heavily on songs from the albums Freak Out, Absolutely Free, Were Only In It For The Money, Uncle Meat, the then-recently released Burnt Weeny Sandwich. Following Zappas especially productive year of 1969, which saw him record and release several albums, including Uncle Meat and Hot Rats, produce Captain Beefhearts outsider classic, Trout Mask Replica, as well as the one and only album for The GTOs, the musician disbanded the original Mothers Of Invention and started experimenting with smaller lineups. It consists of both studio album and live elements. The LP included a large triple-folded black and white poster The Mothers of Invention Sincerely Regret to Inform You which has never been reproduced in any of the CD reissue read more. After having heard the satirical bizarre side of Zappa this album took me by surprise as it is rather restrained by Zappa's standards.
