Graves of the Archangels is the debut full-length album by the Greek death metal band Dead Congregation. The album was recorded between 2006 and 2007. The choirs used on the album are actual Greek Orthodox hymns to the Archangels. The artwork was created by Timo Ketola. Dead Congregation is a Greek death metal band from Athens formed in 2004. The band have released two full-length albums, two EPs, and a split release with Hatespawn. They released their latest full-length album Promulgation of the Fall on May 5, 2014 through their own label, Martyrdoom Productions, and on November 7, 2016, they released their EP 'Sombre Doom'. The band's name is derived from the title of a song written in their previous band Nuclear Winter. They released their debut full-length album Graves of the Archangels on January 30, 2008 in collaboration with Nuclear War Now Productions. Dead Congregations Graves of the Archangels is a pretty cool album. Musically, its coming right out of the early-to-mid-90s American death metal scene, but theres a catch: Dead Congregation is Greek, and Graves of the Archangels came out this past January. Graves of the Archangels sounds like a theme-song for a race into hell. It may come with the most strikingly melodic guitar lines but it's also one of the more demonic, apocalyptic sounding songs. Given the bands propensity for tritones, angular squeals and generally terrifying techniques, that's saying something. Graves of the Archangels pulls absolutely no punches.
